GREAT 2011 Baseball Coaches!

Parents, Below are comments about some of CHAA Great Baseball Coaches. Please note that only 10% of parents responded to Coaching Surveys. Listed are comments about coaches who received ONLY positive comments. There were MANY coaches who were simply named as great coaches but no comments written.

  • Coach Gee Washington Coach Jerry Great guys very patient with kids and made me feel real comfortable with them. Taught the kids alot and the kids loved them.
  • Don Griffin & Drew Gaylor- Great coaches/people that do whatever it takes to making it a great experience for both the kids and parents. I have seen many occassions where they have gone above and beyond the call of a coach to pick up players and drive them to and from practice due to parents inability to take their children to practice. They stress fundamentals and are more concerned with improving their players than winning. During a game this year they played their standard outfielders in the infield and vice versa so their outfielders would understand what it felt like to play the infield. It ended up costing them the game but they did not alter the positioning as the other team started scoring runs. They did it for the kids.
  • Spring 2011 Kirk Novak & James Nelson – Fair, let them try different positions…..and let them keep playing in different positions in order to develop their skills, talked to them like they are people instead of criticism or sarcasm, were upbeat, encouraging and patient.
  • Chris Schwarzer – Major – GREAT COACH!!!! The boys loved him & they improved a lot over the season
  • Mitch Schwark and Rob Blackburn – Hands down, best coaches I have seen – dedicated to the love of the sport and love of developing young kids into solid athletes. A world class team.
  • Justin Shelton – excellent with the kids, and seemed to want to help each individual child improve their skills. He was very patient, but firm and encouraging.
  • Gee Washington: Always very professional and extremely patient with all the kids. His encouragement to them and confidence in them turned out not only better ball players but better young men. Coach Gee and his assistants were all very good with the young boys (men as they called them) on the Yankee team. I hope all of them return. This was our son’s first time ever playing a sport (except swimming) and he thoroughly enjoyed it and is looking forward to playing again. Now that speaks volumes!
  • Mitch Schwark & Rob Blackburn Cubs coaches Assistances that helped: Saul Guzman & John Hanna They were great and I would love my son to be with Mitch and Rob avail in the Fall!!
  • Lance fisher was a great coach. My son was not on his team but he allowed him to practice and gave him encouragement.
  • Don Griffin – excellent coach. Teaches fundamentals, sportsmanship, is encouraging to the players, knows the game.
  • Mark Petrucci has always been a stand-up coach and board member! He spends quality time with each player to ensure that they not only learn the fundamentals of baseball, but also LOVE the game!
  • Brian Arnold-He actually coached the boys(which is hard to come by these days). Players that have never swung a bat before were hitting off kid pitch by the end of the season. Kids that had never played before we could all see 100% improvement by the end of the season. It was nice to have a coach that encouraged the kids
  • Scott Davidson – amazing coach, understands the game and builds confidence, does not tear down the kids
  • Coach Mitch Schwark & Coach Rob Blackburn. They were great with my son. Worked well with him since he never played. Worked to get him and all the players to work together as a team and get along. Paid attention to each child and taught the kids the game and understanding and team work. I want my son with these coaches.
  • Don Griffin-He was wonderful. He makes the kids work hard but does it in a kind way. He really focuses on improving their game. He exemplifies the meaning of the word “mentor”.
  • Mike Ouellette – Mike is really great at getting the boys to want to work hard and play hard. He has tremendous patience and is a FANTASTIC in communication. I feel that he is a great asset to our club.
  • Kevin McKinney, he was an excellent coach and made sure that every kid had a chance. By the end of the season he had taken the most troublesome kid and made him a ball player.
  • Brian Arnold. He’s fantastic. I wish all coaches were as qualified both in the knowledge of the game, skills, and training as well as have the personality geared towards the teaching of kids. No daddy ball here.
  • Yes Coach Mitch Schwark he is excellent at teaching the children but at the same time having fun.

11U Green Eagles are heading to the Grand Slam World Series after state tournament win!

The 11U Green Eagles got their second trophies of the season by winning the North State tournament this weekend in Cumming Georgia. The team was a perfect 7-0 scoring 68 runs while giving up only 40 against some great competition with two impressive come back wins. The first came on Saturday against the Jefferson Heat when the boys were down 11-14 going to their last at bat and won with a walk off home run 15-14. The second comeback happened on Sunday against the eventual second place finisher the ABA Braves. After being down 5-0 with two innings to go the Eagles rallied scoring two in the fifth and six in the Sixth for an impressive 8-5 victory. The boys made great plays all weekend turning a triple play against the Orange Crush with the score tied in the fourth and held on for a 7-5 win. The Eagles beat two other teams ranked in the top ten in the state over the weekend the Carroll County Lions and the Georgia Titans. There were diving catches, steals of home, an in the park home run and great pitching by seven different Eagles. Coach Landon is proud of the boys for their strong finish. The boys made the final four in the GGBL tournament a few weeks back losing to eventual champion Parkview and are looking forward to going down to Panama City next weekend trying to improve on their 3rd place finish at the Grand Slam World Series a year ago.
