There is deep sadness and a tremendous void at Collins Hill and many other youth sport organizations today, as Tom “Hutt” Hutton passed away Monday, March 24th. Tom devoted much of his spare time to officiating baseball, basketball and football for Gwinnett County organizations. His love of sports and the kids who played were evident to everyone he met. Tom was a beloved part of our Collins Hill Athletic Association and even travelled to Cooperstown, NY with the 13-U Eagles in the summer of 2007. That trip and tournament will not soon be forgotten by the kids, coaches or parents who attended. Tom took a great opportunity for the boys and made it an extraordinary event! When not calling a game, Tom was on the stands watching his daughter cheer at Collins Hill football games. Tom was a true friend and mentor to the many lives he touched. His spirit and wisdom will continue in the hearts of the kids and coaches, each time the take the field. Our organization and children are stronger as a result of Tom’s impact and he will truly be missed.
Tom was 47 years old and leaves behind a wife (Cheryl) , an adult son (Jordan), and a young daughter (Shantel), in addition to other family members and friends around the country.

Our own Collins Hill Rampage, coached by Mike Lambert, recently won the PRYAA 2008 Post-Season Tournament for the Girls 13-18 Division! The Rampage went 9 – 3 for the season losing to the same 3 teams they would have to beat in the playoffs. The team played hard and with a lot of heart making it to the championship game against the undefeated Duluth Wildcats. The game was close and had several lead changes, but the Rampage pulled it out 29 to 23!
Way to go! (more…)
Mission Accomplished!!
After a 14 game winning streak, our Collins Hill 5th Grade Girls wrapped up the Gwinnett Basketball League 2007/08 Championship!
The Central Gwinnett team that we beat for the championship was a very good team but they wilted under the pressure of our Lady Eagles. Sunday’s game was the 2nd time that we had to beat them during the tournament in order to win the title. In both games, the Central Gwinnett team was ahead during the 1st half and our girls stormed back to take control. Our girls did not give up and that’s the sign of a true Champion. They were AWESOME!!!
