CHAA Baseball Frequently Asked Questions

If my child will not be 5 until after the May 1st cutoff date, could he still play?

Every opportunity must be given to children of the correct age to play T-Ball. We do keep a waiting list from the hotline, e-mail and at registration for children ‘near’ the cutoff age. If your child will be 5 before with in a few months of the cut off date, we will consider them IF there are still plenty of available slots either just before or just after tryouts.

Will you call us if they will not get the opportunity to play?

Unfortunately, that is not possible, but the Hotline and/or website will have messages concerning which leagues are full.

Can my child “play up”?

For the spring season the answer is no, and this is because of Dixie Youth requirements and All-stars. For the fall baseball season there are no all-stars and a player can be allowed to play-up provided he possesses the necessary skills.

I’m going to be out-of-town on the day of Registration, what are my options?

There are a couple of options. First, have a neighbor, friend or other family member sign your child up. Second, register your child on-line. Registering on-line can be done from any computer simply by accessing our website at www.chaasports.com.

What does the registration fee pay for?

The players uniform, operation of the park, including umpires, balls, team equipment, including , catcher’s equipment, brick dust, batting cage maintenance, Concession fee, $20 dollars in raffle tickets, etc.

Is the concession fee optional?

No. It once was, but we had such a dependability problem with scheduling parents that it was decided to make the fee part of the registration in order to have the proper staffing during the baseball season.

Are the raffle tickets optional?

No, this is our major fund-raiser for the season. We need the full registration fee per child to successfully run the program. The raffle tickets are a way for you to off-set $20 of that cost. Many parents do not like to sell things, but the prizes are attractive enough so that the tickets are pretty easy to sell. Parents have the option to just fill out the raffle tickets if they don’t want the hassle of dealing with them, which gives you 20 chances at one of the prizes.

When is the raffle drawing?

At approximately noon on Opening Day, where the teams get to play an abbreviated practice game with umpires to get them ready for the regular season.

There is a chance of rain or snow on Saturday, will the registration be postponed?

Not unless it gets to the point where it is unsafe to have people come register. I might point out that it will be difficult to relay this information to everyone. About the only way would be the website or TV, and it would be difficult to get the information out quickly. Once again we strongly recommend registering on-line from your home computer.
