CHAA Basketball Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience to play?
No.  CHAA Basketball offers the opportunity to learn and play for players of all levels.  Our local league rules provide that teams are equally divided with experienced and beginning players and ensures each player participates substantially in every game.  CHAA coaches are tasked with teaching fundamentals and teamwork to all players.

How do I register my child for CHAA Basketball?
CHAA offers two ways to register.  You may register your child through the CHAA website during the dates indicated in our registration flyer and site announcements.  We will also have a walk-up registration near the end of the registration period.

What is the cost to register?
Registration fees for the 2009-2010 season are $155.00 per participant for all ages except 5-6 co-ed, which has a reduced registration fee of $75.   Additionally, participants must have a uniform supplied by the association, which costs $40.  Uniforms purchased in previous seasons are acceptable.

When and where are games held?
Most games will be played at the school where your particpant’s practices are held.  Additional games and practices will be at the following: Creekland Middle school, McKendree Elementary, Rock Springs Elementary, Taylor Elementary and Walnut Grove Elementary.  Some games for older age groups may be held at Collins Hill High School.   We cannot guarantee that your child will practice or play games at any specific location.

Are there any opportunities to coach or otherwise contribute as a parent?

How is my child’s age group determined?
The leagues are divided by age group as listed on the registration flyer.  Your participant’s league age is his/her age as of September 1st of this year.

Can my child play in a different age group?
Because of the early age cutoff for our league, some parents desire for their children to play in an older age group.  With League Director prior approval, a child may play up one age group.  This will be based on the child’s athletic ability to ensure for the safety of the children.  No child will be able to play down one age group.
