1st Time Playing for Collins Hill - Important Information
First time football player!
Welcome to the CHAA Football Family
My child wants to play football, what age group will he play?
When you register your child with our online system it will automatically assign his or her age group. The age group is based almost identical to school, so the age your child on September 1 is the age group he will play.
Will my child have to play against big kids?
Yes, the GFL does not play weight based football the GFL is an age based football League. So at times your child will face players bigger and smaller than they may be. Most importantly they will play with players that are the same age and will participate and compete against all the way through high school.
How do I register?
Go to chaasports.com for the Registration link and register for the upcoming Football Season.
Look on our football important dates page for important dates and times.
Where will we practice?
Collins Hill Football practices at 1 of 2 locations, Collins Hill Park, or Rock Springs Park. Your team will be assigned a location by the board and these locations and times are based upon age group and field space required to practice.
How often do we practice?
For the first 2 weeks of the football season practice is 5 days a week for 2 hours per day, we won’t practice on Sunday but some scheduling and rainout require practices to shuffle during the first 2 weeks. After school starts 6 year old players practice 2 nights per week, 7yr old thru 8th grade will practice three days a week.
What time do we practice?
Practice times vary by age group and by location, we try very hard to control traffic flow so practices for younger age groups can start as early as 5:45pm and as late as 6:30pm and then older age group kids can start as early as 7:30pm and as late as 8:00pm.
How does my child get on a team?
Teams that are slated to split will have evaluations on July 18th and 19th. During those two days players will participate in drills designed to show their talent to the coaches. After evaluation the coaches will grade the players based on an A, B, C, D player level. Teams that are not slated to split coaches will contact the players no later than Saturday July 21st to inform about location of practice and important documents needed to begin practice.
What if my son wants to play with his friends?
The draft only accommodates immediate family members, no ride request or direct coach selection is allowed. Teams tend to have 20 to 25 players so typically everyone knows someone from school on their team.
I have more questions who do I call?
Please direct questions to one of the coaches in your child's age group. You can find them on CHAA coaches page or contact the Football Director: David Sokol @ firstname.lastname@example.org or Assistant Director: Ray Hicks @ email@example.com
